So are the on-point, life-like performances of the entire cast, from the leads (Nico Antonio as a Quiapo snatcher and Art Acuna as chief of police) to the supporting players (Bangs Garcia as the victim of the theft, and Nor Domingo and Jake Macapagal as police officers), down to the guests and bit players. In a year filled with excellent ensemble acting work (?Aparisyon?, ?Sta. Nina?, ?Mga Munting Lihim?, ?I Do Bidoo?), ?Posas? gets the badge of honor as the finest.

RHIAN RAMOS, ?SOSSY PROBLEMS?
She was very good in the title role in last year?s ?My Kontrabida Girl?. This year she was even better ? sharper and punchier but cooler ? as a bossy spoiled brat in ?Sossy Problems?, about a barkada of clueless ultra rich girls who find a mission outside of themselves when their beloved village country club gets threatened to be torn down to give way to a mall.
The role was practically begging for a kind of go-to-town indulgence. Rhian did not go there. Instead she imbued the character with a playful charm and an unforced headiness that made it easy for viewers to understand why she is the acknowledged leader of this stillettoed pack. And why she is probably the finest young actress in comedy around.

ANTHONY FALCON, ?REQUIEME!?
How do you go head to head and toe to toe with the simmering soulfulness and soft-edged intensity of Shamaine Buencamino? If you?re newcomer Anthony Falcon, you don?t. You play it the other way ? sharp, saucy, and steely. It?s nothing short of genius.
For while the performance is one of chilly, icy coolness on the surface, Anthony as Joanna, a runaway son, a social outcast, and would-be transsexual, is also able to fully locate the bruised soul, the wounded heart, and the zest for life in this black comedy about burying the dearly beloved, Pinoy-style.

EDDIE GARCIA, ?BWAKAW?
This year Manoy played manay and he was nothing short of fabulous. But not in a showy, put-out-all-the-stops kind of way.
As Rene ? a brusko of a man who embraces his sexuality and comes out of the closet very late in life with his canine BFF, by his side, indeed in what the character sees as his twilight years ? Eddie is elegantly funny and sophisticatedly soulful in a portrayal brimming with scrappy wit, sardonic humor, and sensitive heart.
This lovely and loving performance is the opposite of a doggone work.

NORA AUNOR, ?THY WOMB?
Thirty years after ?Himala?, Nora Aunor gives another performance for the ages. As Shaleha, a barren Badjao wife who goes on a mission to find a woman who could and would give her beloved husband a biological child, is hypnotically still, bracingly intelligent, and devastatingly emotional, often all at once and without uttering a single word. She is, in a word, divine in what is the most hauntingly sublime piece of acting in all of Philippine cinema not only this year but in the last 30 years.

When does an oil boom become an oil industry? Some would say when the needed infrastructure catches up with record-breaking oil production in western North Dakota.
All year, infrastructure needs like roads, pipelines and housing have dominated headlines right alongside lead stories of the tens of thousands of jobs created and the hundreds of million in tax revenues due to oil activity here.
The governor?s proposed $12.8 billion budget for the coming 2013-15 biennium includes $300 million to convert two-lane highways into four-lane ones, starting with U.S. Highway 85 between Watford City and Williston, plus $142 million to help counties and townships repair truck traffic-damaged roads. Under the budget, many new state positions would be added, including more highway patrol troopers, petroleum engineers and inspectors for monitoring drilling and well sites.
In 2012, the term ?fracking? overtook ?climate change? in Google searches, the word ?Bakken? became a hot marketing tool, an LA production company sought oil workers for a planned reality TV show and journalists from both coasts and beyond descended on the area to report on the stories of low unemployment rates and fastest-growing U.S. population here in our midst.
The skyrocketing use of natural gas to produce electricity was projected in the state, even as gas flaring estimates of 30 percent with a loss of $100 million wasted were reported.
New state regulations related to oil production took effect last spring, though not without controversy. Industry groups such as the North Dakota Petroleum Council called many of the changes ?costly and onerous,? but state officials with the Oil and Gas Division said ?tough rules? are necessary to ensure the integrity of wells for the next 30 years.
The new rules include requiring companies to disclose chemicals used in hydraulic fracturing, banning the dumping of liquid wastes into an open pit, except in cases where the oil well is less than 5,000 feet, increasing the bond requirement from $20,000 to $50,000 for oil wells.
A preliminary report on hydraulic fracturing was released late in the year by the EPA; industry analysts said the report shed little light on what the agency will recommend in its final report, due out in 2014.
The purpose of the study is to assess the potential impacts of hydraulic fracturing on drinking water resources, if any, and to identify the driving factors that may affect the severity and frequency of such impacts; wells in Dunn County and the Killdeer area are among the seven sites included in the congressionally-mandated study.

I got a new phone but need a second laptop for work and this phone still needs to go. My Macbook Pro is too expensive to tote around to customer sites and its already survived one drop off a table so Im far too nervous to bring it from site to site with me wheres theres oftn no room for a laptop except a little ledge or some other questionable platform not designed for a laptop. I want something that wont make me cry if I drop it but it cant be a total piece either since I will be stuck using it everyday all day.

The phone is mint no scratches or scuffs and comes in original box with all accesories.
Im looking to trade for a modern laptop with a 15" screen. If it didn't come with Windows 7 or 8 then its likely older than Id be interested in. If it has DDR2 or slower RAM Im not interested. Best Buy has a Toshiba with a 15" screen and AMD E300 processor for about $260 and its a perfect example of what Im looking to trade for. Id be willing to take a slower processor if it has AMD or Nvidia Graphics. Id like the RAM to be expandable to 16 GB but 8 GB would work as well. LED backlit screen is a huge plus for me or anything with a long battery life which usually means it will have an LED screen. Dont care much about hard drive size or the amount of RAM included since I will upgrade those anyway. I'm not interested in HP laptops unless its REALLY REALLY worth it.
If the laptop is worth more than my phone but is something you think fits the bill, I would be willing to throw in some cash to even up the trade.

CHICAGO ? Terry Glover, the managing editor of Ebony magazine, has died of colon cancer at her Chicago home. She was 57. Ebony announced on its website that Glover died on Monday. Her husband, Kendall Glover, told the Chicago Tribune that his wife had been fighting cancer for about two years.

NEW YORK (AP) ? Apple CEO Tim Cook got $4.2 million in pay for the latest fiscal year, a modest sum compared with last year, when the company's board set him up with stock now worth $510 million for taking the reins in 2011.
Cook's pay for fiscal 2012, which ended in September, consisted of $1.4 million in salary, a bonus of $2.8 million, and $17,000 in company contributions to his 401(k) account and life insurance premiums, according to a filing.
Apple Inc.'s board saw no need to give Cook additional shares in 2012 after the sign-on grant of 1 million shares in 2011. Half of those shares vest in 2016 and the other half in 2021. A lot could happen to the value of the shares before Cook can cash them out, but the sign-on grant made him ?at least on paper? the highest-paid U.S. CEO in 2011.
Cook did vest into shares worth $140 million in 2012. Those shares were granted earlier, when he was chief operating officer. He had been acting CEO for a while before the death of company co-founder Steve Jobs in October of 2011.
Apple tends to grant shares to executives every other year. Cook's closest cohorts got big grants in 2012, including top hardware engineer Robert Mansfield, who got shares worth $83 million. Chief Financial Officer Peter Oppenheimer and general counsel Bruce Sewell both got stock grants worth just over $66 million, more than double the value of the grants they got two years ago, reflecting the zooming value of Apple's stock.

The level of 3D display can be changed or turned off and there is also a lock to prevent children from altering the settings. This game is perfect for children aged 5 to adult.
Nintendo Wii: The Nintendo Wii has been out for a few years now and has quite a few accessories that kids can use to feel as if they are inside the game. Along with the controllers there are nun-chucks, steering wheels, sports equipment and balance boards. One of the new games, Skylanders, incorporates tiny figurines that are placed on a magic portal and magically appear in the game. The main drawback to this console is that it cannot play DVDs or music CDs. This console is best for ages 7 and up.
Nintendo Wii U: The Wii U is the most up and coming video game console accessory, and it will be in hot demand come Christmas. The device basically looks like a computer tablet and allows you to play Wii games on the screen instead of on your TV and get different views and game play choices with existing Wii games. It is believed that it will come out in November and the price will be about $250.
PS Vita: The Vita is like combination tablet and video game console. It has 3G service, WiFi, cameras, touch screen, front and back control pad and the ability to link the Vita to your PS3. You can start a game on your PS3, then start it up again on the portable PS Vita. The screen and resolution quality are very good, much like a mini LED TV. The console costs $250 and up, and the games cost about $40 to $50 each. Because the game and accessories are costly, and the game is a little bit more delicate, this gift is ideal for ages 14 to adult.
PS3: The PS3 has great graphics and is really geared toward older children and adults who really like to make the most of their gaming experience. With Playstation Move, you can also play motion sensor games and take advantage of more interactive play. Like sheets of paper marked with perforated lines, gecko tails have unique structural marks that help them sever their tails to make a quick getaway. Though voluntarily shedding a body part in this manner is a well-known phenomenon, research published December 19 in the open access journal PLOS ONE reveals aspects of the process that may have applications for structural engineers making similar, quickly detachable structures.
Jan Enghild and colleagues from Aarhus University, Denmark, used advanced bio-imaging techniques to discover that a Tokay gecko sheds its tail along pre-formed "score lines" in specific regions of the tail, which is held together by adhesive forces at these lines. The process of separation is independent of protein-cleaving enzymes, and microstructures at the ends of muscle fibers are most likely involved in the release of the tail. Enghild adds, "Our work has been driven by a curiosity to understand how tail autotomy is facilitated among lizards. In the present work we use a combination of advanced protein- and high-resolution imaging- techniques to address the mechanism involved in the process."

I have always been inexplicably drawn to the seemingly insignificant details of day-to-day life. A hot cup of coffee on the edge of a table. A child's sneakers strewn on the living room floor. It is these little details that make a house a home. The evidence of the lives within the space. For me it is those little things that make our lives so special.
This is especially true with weddings. Now certainly looking at other people's details may not always be inspiring to others, but I invite you to think about this: when they are "your" details, they are no longer things but rather part of "your" story, "your" history. The invitations that you spent months deciding on the font and color palette, the perfect peony that is now in "your" bouquet, the love note your fiance sent to your room as you got ready -- and yes, your beautiful shoes and dress hanging in the window. It is here where the loveliness resides. Now please do not get me wrong, of course your ceremony photos, group shots and so on are absolutely important, but it is in the lovely details where your weddings photos become a visual love story; a personal history of your wedding day. One that you will undoubtedly share with loved ones and friends and perhaps children for many years to come.
There are very few things that you take home with you after your wedding, and as most of you know, you spend months, maybe even years planning and choosing all the elements that will be part of your celebration. So be sure to give your photographer ample time to capture some of the intimate objects that help define your personal style and, more importantly, the history of your romance.
Here are some of my tips to help you and your photographer document the lovely details at your wedding:
1st - Gather all the paper products, of course the invitation but also anything else your can think of: your menu, the program etc. and have them in a nice little pile in the room where you are getting ready so your photographer can easily shoot them.
2nd - Ask your florist to have your personal flowers delivered to your room when the photographer arrives. That means your bouquet, your bridesmaids bouquets and boutonnieres if possible. Some florists may push back on this, but in my experience it is the best way to get beautiful clean shots of your florals, which, in the end, your florist will appreciate as well.
3rd - Have your dress, veil, shoes, lingerie, jewelry etc. also put together and ready for your photographer. If it is organized it is easier for everyone. It also saves time, so that the photographer is not rummaging through the closet searching for your lovely details.
4th - If there is something that really matters to you, please let us know. I think I can speak for all photographers when I say, we want you to be happy. If you grandmother gave you her grandmother's handkerchief to carry down the aisle, pretty please tell your photographer. We may be working very hard to capture everything, but undoubtedly from time to time things get missed. You care about something, take the time to tell us so we can make every effort to make a beautiful photo of it for you.
Last but not least, remember to enjoy every moment of your wedding day. It is so fleeting, sometimes the details your photographer captures will surprise you in how much they move you later. One of my very favorite details to capture is the sky. It may seems simple and perhaps unrelated but I think every couple should know the exact shade of blue, or the delicate cloud formation that was above them the day they committed their lives to one another. That is certainly a detail that you cannot take with you and perhaps one of the loveliest things to be reminded of, of all.

UNIVERSAL CITY, Calif. (AP) ? Jenni Rivera's "celestial graduation" was marked by festive music, heartfelt speeches in Spanish and English and passionate chants of "Jen-ni! Jen-ni!"
Rivera's children and famed singers Olga Tanon and Joan Sebastian performed during the nearly 2 ?-hour Christian-themed memorial service Wednesday at the Gibson Amphitheatre, where thousands of fans gathered to salute the "Diva de la Banda" who died in a plane crash Dec. 9.
One fan, Veronika Flores, drove nearly eight hours from her home in Woodland, Calif., near Sacramento, to be united with other fans at the service.
"I just came to say goodbye to a Latina woman, La Gran Senora," she said, invoking the name of one of Rivera's most beloved songs.
Mexican singers Marco Antonio Solis and Ana Gabriel and actors Lou Diamond Phillips and Kate del Castillo were also among the guests at Wednesday's service.
A red casket sat onstage amid a sea of white roses as images of Rivera played on three big screens. Family members embraced and kissed the casket at the conclusion of the service, and thousands of fans lined up to lay more white roses atop it.
While most of the speeches and songs were delivered in Spanish, Rivera's children spoke in English, often directly to their late mother.
"We're not here to mourn the death," said son Michael, 21. "We're here to celebrate the life and graduation of a singer, an entertainer, a diva, a fighter, an entrepreneur, a philanthropist, and more than anything, a mother ? the best mother."
He then called for 27 seconds of silence for the victims of the massacre in Newtown, Conn.
Rivera's youngest child, 11-year-old Johnny, was heartbreakingly poised as he said, "The person that everyone's talking about is my mom."
"Mama, I've been crying so much these last few days. I miss you so much," said the little boy, wearing a red bow tie like many of his family members. "I hope you're taking care of my dad and I hope he's taking care of you, too."
Rivera's second husband, Juan Lopez, died in 2009. The couple divorced in 2003.
Rivera's brothers and sisters spoke lovingly of the singer, calling her "the queen of queens," ''perfectly imperfect" and an "eternal diva." Her father said Rivera's "happiness, smile and care for the public will never be forgotten." He then performed a song he wrote about his daughter, a woman who rose from humble roots to become "la Diva de la Banda."
One of Rivera's brothers said his sister "made it OK for women to be who they are. Jenni also made it OK to be from nothing with the hopes of being something."
The family asked that Latin radio stations play Rivera's song "La Gran Senora" at noon Thursday in her honor.
The service was closed to most media, although a broadcast of the proceedings was made available. A reporter from The Associated Press obtained entry to the venue.
The burial will be private.
Rivera's last album before her death, "La Misma Gran Senora," topped the Latin albums chart this week, selling 27,000 copies ? the best sales week for any Latin album this year. Rivera also holds three spots on the Billboard 200 albums chart.

She had recently filed for divorce from her third husband, was once detained at a Mexico City airport with tens of thousands of dollars in cash, and publicly apologized after her brother assaulted a drunken fan who verbally attacked her in 2011.
"She was a fighter, a woman who can push boundaries," said Flores. "That's why I liked her, because I'm just like her."
