Poll: Romney the top pick among Ohio GOP voters

COLUMBUS, Ohio (AP) ? A new poll has Mitt Romney jumping to the front of the Republican pack among GOP voters in the presidential battleground state of Ohio.

The Quinnipiac University poll released Wednesday also shows 51 percent of overall registered voters in the state say President Barack Obama does not deserve a second term.

Former Massachusetts governor Romney leads among Republicans with 27 percent, followed by former Pennsylvania Sen. Rick Santorum with 18 percent. In third is former U.S. House Speaker Newt Gingrich, who was the top choice of Ohio GOP voters in a similar poll taken Dec. 8.

The overall survey of 1,610 Ohio voters has a margin of error of 2.4 percentage points. The margin of error from a survey of 542 Republicans is 4.2 points.
